2025.2.27-3.1 Noriko Baba “Nopera AOI” in Lausanne

I came to Lausanne, Switzerland to perform in the opera “Nopera AOI” composed by Noriko Baba.

This season, Noriko Baba is the resident composer at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU), and this performance of “Nopera AOI” is part of her residency.

The performance will be held at Théâtre 2·21, a theater with a very unique atmosphere. This time, it is part of an educational project at Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU), so the performance will be played by students. The students are very wonderful and working very hard.

The 5-minute video of “Nopera AOI” is a compilation of interviews with the students and my own interview (in English).

The three-day performance of the opera Noriko Baba “Nopera AOI” has successfully ended! I performed with students, but with careful and long practice under the guidance of a wonderful professor, Guillaume Bourgogne, the students have grown significantly, and I have learned a lot from them.
This time, I only wore the knitted innerwear by Yoshikazu Yamagata of writtenafterwars. I was actually supposed to wear a big futon with 80s-style idol embroidery on top of it.

Fabien Levy also came and I met him for the first time.

I was also interviewed by a certain Japanese music magazine. The interviewer was Sayaka Funakoshi, a pianist and music writer living in Paris.

Lausanne is a city with many hills.

And it is a very beautiful city. I would love to come back again.
