2025.4.13 Contemporary Music × Noh @ Miura Peninsula

On April 13th, I was given the opportunity to perform a private concert at an outdoor stage on the Miura Peninsula. Kaito Nakahori and Yu Kuwabara’s new pieces, 30 and 40 minutes long respectively, would be world premiered by a splendid line-up of musicians, including cellist Francesco Dillon from Italy, violinist Tatsuki Narita, and violist Yuko Hara.

“Contemporary Music x Noh”
Saturday, April 13, 2025, 17:00
Miura Meets Outdoor Stage (Miura City, Kanagawa Prefecture)

Program:
Kaito Nakahori “KAGUYA” (commissioned new work, world premiere)
Yu Kuwabara “In the Forest, Under Cherries in Full Bloom” (commissioned new work, world premiere)

Ryoko Aoki (Noh voice), Tatsuki Narita (Violin), Yuko Hara (Viola), Francesco Dillon (Violoncello)
Organized by RYUS DESIGN Co., Ltd.

We rehearsed in Tokyo and arrived at the venue two days before the performance. We all travelled by train, which made us feel like we were on an excursion.

Since preparations were being made outside, the rehearsal was carried out thoroughly indoors.

After the rehearsal, we all had a delicious dinner and talked about music. It was a really fun time.
The actual performance was scheduled for the 13th, but unfortunately, due to the forecast of rain, the dress rehearsal was held on the previous day, the 12th, and was open to the public. Despite the two-day notice, about 100 people came to see the performance, and we were able to perform a performance on the outdoor stage that was just like the real performance !

A greeting from Misato Kato of RYUS DESIGN Co., Ltd., the organizer of the event.

On the day of the performance on the 13th, due to rain, the concert was held in the living room of the organizer, Mr. Kato’s house. In the morning, we had a sight-reading session of the string trio! What a luxurious time.

Nearly 80 guests listened intently to the performance on the 13th. About 100 guests also came to the outdoor dress rehearsal the day before, so we had quite a large audience on both days.
The days were like a music training camp with the best members and it was really fun. We could see Mt. Fuji before leaving the next day.
Together with Mr. and Mrs. Kato, who organized the event, I would like to express my deep gratitude for giving me this wonderful opportunity. It was a performance that I will never forget.
