2024.11.30-12.1 “JOLT Arts” Concert of James Hullick
I had concerts at BankART Station in Yokohama on 30 November and 1 December. Since 2021, I have been performing with the Australian music group “JOLT Arts”, a group of artists with intellectual disabilities. On 30 November, I performed a new music theater by composer and pianist James Hullick, who leads the group, and on 1 December I performed with a string quartet.
We stayed at SupernaturalDeluxe in Kamogawa, Chiba for rehearsals and shooting.
After Kamogawa, rehearsals with the string quartet started at BankART Station in Yokohama.
The venue also features an exhibition by JOLT Arts, a music group of Australian artists with disabilities led by James.
With James Hullick and String Quartet members, Yasutaka Hemmi (Violin) Yoshu Kamei (Violin) Takahiro Yasuda (Viola) Aki Kitajima (Violoncello).

The string quartet was very enjoyable and played with great stability.
After the performance.
The day after the concerts, the members of the Australia-Japan project, which began with the 2021 during a pandemic, met together in real for the first time. The members included Yoshie Kris, known as the Para Creative Producer and recently a TV commentator’, Professor Shigenori Mochizuki of Ritsumeikan University, Professor Jonathan Duckworth of RMIT University, composer and leader of JOLT Arts, a musical group of artists with disabilities, and James Hullick. They all happened to be in Japan on other business, and miraculously the dates coincided last night! The first person who brought us together was Yoshie Kris. I performed online with JOLT Arts led by James at the SLOW LABEL event led by Yoshie in 2021. Since then, we have created “Hagoromo XR”, based on the Noh play “Hagoromo”, using volumetric video capture technology, and have performed together annually in Australia and Japan. This time we were in this new project, which was mainly a new opera by and a new string quartet pieces by James Hullick. So, I didn’t perform with the JOLT Arts people, but I hope to perform with them again in the near future.
