2025.9.5-6 Noriko Koide “JUNCTION” Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra
I will perform together with the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra for the first time on 5 and 6 September. ![]()
We will do the world premiere of Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra Composer-in-Residence Noriko Koide’s new piece “JUNCTION” conducted by Kentaro Kawase. The piece is inspired by Mariko Asabuki’s novel “Vegetable Man.” It is a work that combines Noh chanting, a tape of Asabuki herself narrating, and an orchestra.![]()

After the world premiere, together with composer Noriko Koide and conductor Kentaro Kawase, we all posed in the “fig” style, which is an important motif in the piece!

Noriko Koide is the fourth composer-in-residence of Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra continues to commission contemporary pieces. It is truly wonderful to see local fans are also familiar with contemporary music. Nagoya has a high level of culture. I hope that more environments like this will be created in Japan! It was a great honor to have been able to participate in such a wonderful project.
