Very good review of the concert WELTENTRAUM – Music Between the World on 22 March at the Goethe-Institut Tokyo by Nobuyuki Kakigi appeared in Mercure des Arts Vol. 103!
“Bernd Franke’s “IZUTSU – Memento,” written for Aoki’s chant, seemed to me to be a musical exploration of dreams in Noh… In the piece, Aoki’s voice, gradually becoming more lustrous, conveyed the exaltation of the woman’s love for Ariwara no Narihira. The process of this spirit’s disappearance, leaving behind the sound of water, played out as a single event, was the most striking aspect of this concert.”
